How much would a Chevy 283 small block cost and will it fit in a 2000 s-10 automatic?

If it can be adapted, then what would be needed, yeah I know I have all the pollution devices on the truck, but lucky for me we have no state inspection on vehicles here, so that would be no problem to rip and gut that stuff.
