How much will this college cost?

I found a college cost finder on CNNMoney.com, and this is what it said the college I'd like to go to will cost:

In-district tuition: N/A
In-state (out-of-district) tuition: $5,358
Out-of-state tuition: $13,396

Fees: $1,741
Room and board: $6,604
Room only: $3,640


How much will it really end up costing?? If I do not get a room and have my own appt.

I'm a little confused as to how this all works but it is something I have to be thinking about at this point in my life. Can you tell me about how college expenses work? My brother said something the other day about he had to pay like $3,000 a class, and that wasn't even a University. This doesn't make sense.
 
stop looking at CNN.com. you can only know these fees based off of the college you want to go too. thats an estamite for all colleges. some are much much more and some are alot less. for instance my school, ohio state, has an instate tuition of 8600. room and board varies on the type of room you get. i like off campus so i pay around 3000 per quarter which is like 9000 for the year. and classes do not cost 3000 per class. your brother has it way wrong. talk to your school counselor so they can further clear this up for you as i have tried my best.
