...make it a reliable car? ok heres my story.. i have to get rid of my 06 honda civic coupe with 24 thousand miles because my job hours are inconsistent and i cant stress about payments so im deciding to get my favorite car which is a 1990-1996 nissan 300zx twin turbo. my plan is to buy one for 2 thousand that starts but shuts off and has a turbo out, tranny sealt, power steering needs attention, needs heater core and exterior isnt crashed has normal wear and tear- thats what the seller states problem wise and pictures back it up, and engine looks intact and has original motor. i would want to make car run like new and reliable so i would re build engine and replace other parts as needed at my own pace due to not having monthly car payments. how much would it be lets say to rebuild engine, redo lets say practically everything under the hood sensors, battery, suspension, brakes etc. but list individually for example
rebuild engine- xxx$
suspension-xxx$
etc
etc
i need honest opinions, i figure to not spend 5 to 6 grand on a 300zx tt that runs but has over 150k miles but could need attention eventually due to high mileage so if i get one for 2 grand and could spend 4 grand which adds up to 6 grand in long run and basically make it alot more reliable and have basically a new engine. i know it would cost more than 6 grand but you think spending 4 grand less to make the car reliable is worth it? if im confusing lets put it this way im trying to have the most reliable 300zx tt and the best way to make that happen and spend the least amount of money.. either spending 2 grand to have the car engine intact but not running with those things above wrong and possibly more and rebuilding engine and replace most internal things, or spending 6 grand on a high mileage one that runs? i would be willing to put money not crazy amounts into car to make it reliable and worry free. i wouldnt pay for everything up front i would do things a step at a time as i get the money. i appreciate the help just trying to get price ranges and opinions thnaks
