I got some great answers yesterday on a used car question, so hopefully I can get some more. Or even some opinions...
We're looking to buy a used minivan. I'm currently looking at a used 2007 Chrysler Town & Country Limited. The sticker price is $19,900. We only want to take out a loan for $15,000, and we have $1000 we can pay cash to use as a down payment, or to pay taxes, fees, etc. I have a 2002 Saturn Vue to trade in, but we've recently been told (by a very trusted source) that the it sounds like the transmission is going to go soon. (Hence, I have NO idea what to expect for a trade in) Taking all of this in to consideration, is the $19,900 vehicle WAY out of our price range?
The Saturn has 90,000 miles on it. The only problem with it is the (probable) bad transmission. (Which I realize is a HUGE problem) On Kelley Blue Book, it won't list a value for cars in "poor" condition, so I'm having a real hard time trying to figure out what would be a fair trade in value.
