An old classmate who works for Eagle metals on the night shift was supposed to do this gold plating job wherein he put 4.5000 troy ounces of gold (1 troy oz. = 31.103486 g) on a medallion using the reaction:
Au(CN)4- (aq) + 3 e- <==> Au (s) + 4CN-
He somehow got 4.8527 troy ounces of gold on the medallion instead of the correct amount. Please tell him how many hours, minutes, and seconds he should run the cells with the leads reversed, using a current of 1.350 amperes, to rectify the error and bring the medallions down the correct weight.
How is this solved?
