How much should rear brakes cost for my 1986 toyota corolla?

I brought my 1986 toyota corolla into a mechanic the other day. I was told that I need new rear brake pads, drums and rear wheel cylinders. I was quoted $550 for the job (tax and labour included). I am wondering if this is a fair price or a bit of a rip off? I live in Canada. So if somebody has had a similar repair done on a similar car or if you are a mechanic let me know what you think.
Ha ha no I am not rich. I wish. Thanks I thought $550 was a bit too much.
 
In the US it was $450 for me. Doesn't matter what the model of car is. It's the labor that cost so much.
 
If you were to do it your self, brakes cost 50 dollars, drums 50 bucks cylinders twenty bucks a piece so 140+tx=151 Takes about one hour. It on the high side But hey you live in Canada a are you rich?Just joking you should be paying top price300-325
 
WAY TOO MUCH! get a second quote from another mechanic. You may not even need new drums or wheel cylinders. If you are leaking fluid on the ground then you may need new wheel cylinders. Drums can be turned for about $10.00 each if not too worn. Even if you bought all these parts they would total less than $100.00. So the remaining would be labor.
