I am 18 years old and in college for early childhood education. I graduated a year early from high school and I currently have a 4.0 (I have meet mothers that this makes a difference to). I am CPR certified and I have awesome references. I have been babysitting for about seven years and I have done overnight stays. I have experience with special need and autistic children. I want to get an idea of how much to charge in Corpus Christi, Texas.(I just moved here from Dallas and the families I had babysat for in the past I had been babysitting for years so they just raised my pay as they pleased as I became older so I do not really have a rate.)Any help would be appreciated! I would hate to overcharge people and then again I am trying to pay for school so I need cash! No, I am not trying to be into myself. Isn't telling about myself and all the positive things I can think of that a parent would like help to determine how much I should get paid an hour? I would pay college student in good standing with experience a lot more than I would pay a 12 year old on her first job and I am sure everyone would agree. I am just trying to find a number to start with as I have never set a rate.

dont expect to get paid over three dollars an hour. i have been babysitting since i was 12 and only charged 1.00 an hour and i did a lot of babysittin cause i was cheap, relible and good with the kids. i was also cpr first aid certified. i would say it would depend on age of the kids, infants should be 2.50 an hour, toddlers should be 2.00 an hour and over the age of five should be 1.50 an hour. hope this helps

i would say $3 per hr for the first child and $1 for reach other child. remember most families are on a limited income.

Okay, I don't know where the heck everyone is getting $2-3 from, because here [in Pennsylvania] if you have all those good credentials and are 18, you can charge at least $10/hour! Probably more like $15! I get paid about $8-10/hour and I'm 13 (and CPR certified)! Overnight stays are definitely extra. I would start with $9-10/hour and see how much it rakes up. Also, don't be afraid to ask the parents what they think is reasonable! They will probably have ideas. Good luck!
