How much per hour should I ask for on an employment application?

I'm applying to work at various department stores this summer -- I figure, why not, I'll probably get a discount on clothes -- but I have no idea how much to ask for. I don't want to ask for something insane, but I don't want to ask for too much because I'd like to get hired!

I made $7/hr at my last job, which was like four years ago now.

For the record, it's a part-time sales associate job at Carson Pirie Scott.
