I need to change the oil but don't a service manual for it, if anyone could tell me how much oil to use or tell me where to download a manual for it that would help. Someone told me it would probably take 30 weight oil but I'm not sure about that either. Thanks

a forman 400 atv will hold approximately 2 ts of oil it should have a dip stick too check the level on the fill plug. make sure u buy a motorcycle grade oil or u will do damage too the clutch. regular automobile oil will damage the clutch. honda makes a 10-30 and a 10-40 for this machine which is your best bet. u should also replace the oil filter as well as the oil lubricates the internal transmission parts as well the the engine parts and since this machine is air cooled the oil does get very hot. although any atv grade oil such as arctic cat , yamaha, or suzukie will work.

there should be a number on crankcase cover near where you fill the oil...it should say something like 650cc....this is the amount of oil it takes....I recommend you buy a manual....different bikes take different weights of oil and if you dont use the correct weight it can cause clutch slippage.....do not use synthetics...for example my 79 yamaha dt175 takes 10-30 and my 78 suzuki pe175 takes 20-40....my yamaha takes 650cc of oil and the suzuki takes 800cc...
