how much oil? 1997 dodge dakota?

ok i am changing my oil in my '97 dodge dakota....it has 131,000 miles....what is the BEST kind and type of oil to use? its a V6 Magnum....i heard it takes 4.5 quarts? sound right?.....and also i am going to train my tranny fluid.....how much does mine take? .....and what is the best kind? ....i think i have valvaline "high mileage" right now......but what is the BEST for both of these without spending a fortune?....thanks guys...God Blesss---Nick....

P.S--- i am chaning my oil filter...and my tranny filter...just FYI
 
start out with 4 quarts, check the level with the dipstick, and add as needed

as long as your transmission fluid is of the right class (dexron iii) or whatever it maybe be you will be ok....check with your owners manual for this information, and also for the amount...just dont buy generic
