...640mb to a GTX 460 768mb? Question is pretty self-explanatory.
My system is as follows:
2.81GHz Windsor Athlon 64 x2 5600+ CPU
2gb DDR2 RAM
8800 GTS 640mb
22" 5ms Acer Monitor (1680x1050)
500w Apevia PSU
on Windows 7
I'm upgrading to a GTX 460 768mb. In general, what kind of fps gain am I looking at?
e.g. in games like Crysis, Just Cause 2, Battlefield BC2, Napoleon Total War
Just to reconfirm, I am NOT
-asking whether I should get a new CPU or add more RAM. I realize I could use a quad core and 2gigs is pushing it but I have plenty of room left over from those 2 gigs and I don't have the budget for a new processor as of yet.
-asking what my bottlenecks are (see above)
-asking whether I should buy a different GPU
Any professional answer or an answer from personal experience (similar upgrades) is welcome!
Thanks.
Why would it be wasted? What specifically is dragging it down, the CPU?
If so, what would be the cheapest alternative?
