How much notice do I have to give my landlord in U.K tenancy law?

Myself and a house mate singed a yearly contract with the option of breaking after six months. We passed the year and now after around 15 months wish to move out. Nothing was re-signed
or discussed after the initial year. I would now like to move out as quickly as possible but believe it is in my contact to give two months notice. As the year is up do I have the legal right to give just one?
I understand it's a little difficult with out the contact to hand but if anyone knows legally where I stand that would be much appreciated. Please note as I am based in London this is for U.K tenancy law.

After the minimum term (year) you only have to give the notice contained in teh contract (often 1 month) as you have been converted at the end of the fixed term to a monthly tenancy!

Contracts often have 1 month notice if tenants wishes to leave but 2 if the landlord wishes the tenant to vacate.

check which is the case for you but then you only need give the full months WRITTEN notice of 2 months if your contract doses say you need to give 2 months
