How much money do authors get paid?

i think its based on how many people buy their books, right? but on average, what does an author get paid? I'm curious.

Depends on how well the book sells. If a book makes like $3,000 in one week, the author would only get paid like 5%-10%. So like $300-$600. And if it was like $300,000, it would be like $30,000-$60,000.

uh it depends on the money the publisher pays for a certain amount of books.

I believe they get paid a certain fee up front, and then royalties from their book sales. It could range from several thousand dollars to several million dollars, depending upon different circumstances (who the author is, if they're known/unknown, what the book is about, if the publisher thinks it will sell in a wide range market, etc.) I'm no expert though.
