I filled out the FAFSA in the beginning of August. I have been to NOVA Community College several times to make sure everything is fine and going smoothly. I can understand the late filing, reason being is that i got fired from my FT job and decided to go back to school FT for nursing. So this whole FAFSA is new to me. After filing, I waited for over 2 hours to talk to the advisers on my application and ask questions on my income change (which is much less than the 20%). I keep checking on the status and going to see the advisers. There have been no holds and no tasks, until yesterday. Now, they want me to fill out the Verification Worksheet (which is fine, and I've been honest) But I live on my own and by myself. I make a lousy $200 a weekend bartending, and i am going through the process of appeal for unemployment. My family members loaned me $$$$ for books and my first 8wks, but im afraid this will prolong the process and will not have the funds for the second eight week period. Is there anyone that can help me? Does anyone know how long this will take? My advisor wouldnt even give me that. If there is a financial aid advisor out there, is there anything i can do to expedite this?
