How much influence do theological ideas have on the British media?

I wondered if anybody knows how I can prove that religion and religious ideas play an important role in the British media. I know that for example the budget of the BBC's department for religion is enormous, but what about other people who might influence the media in any ways? (Media tycoon Rupert Murdoch for example has a lot of power to push politics into a certain direction because he owns the Sun and the News of the World, the two best-selling newspapers in the UK. Are there any religious, especially Catholic people of who can be said the same? - Obviously Murdoch is very religious himself but I'm looking for actual theologians who have a lot of influence!)
 
Still very little. You hear about religion occasionally in the news but it's basically completely irrelevant here. Less than one percent of people ever go to church so the media would be shooting itself in the foot if it put any significant amount of religion out. Any religious TV programme is guaranteed to have people changing channels in droves. You might have one programme tucked away in the small hours on a Saturday night when everyone's socialising, or early on Sunday morning when everyone's still in bed, but that's about it.
