How much in advance must universities notify students about tuition increases?

I'm planning to attend a graduate program this fall at a private university. I just learned from an admissions representative that the school recently decided to raise tuition by about $4000. (It's an expensive program, so this is a fairly small percentage increase.)
The tuition increase s not yet updated on the Web site. The school still has the lower tuition posted for the 2010-11 school year. It seems very late in the game to do this... many students have already paid a deposit to join the upcoming class.
School starts in just about 6 months! Are there any requirements/laws about how much in advance a college or university must tell students about tuition hike? It seems like false advertising.
