how much horsepower can i put into a 99 dodge avenger 2.5l engine?

i believe the engine is built by mitsubishi and has somewhere around a 9.5-9.7 comp ratio.stock they produce 165-170 hp. i believe it has aluminum pistons but not forged. i was wanting to get a turbo and run around 6-9psi of boost. is this more then this engine is capable of handling?
 
Stock is 163 horsepower, at the flywheel.

Actual wheel horsepower, is around 130.

Why would you want this engine? For a V6, that's pathetic.

Also, you need to change the pistons. 9.7 is WAY too high for a turbo application.

You could run 6-9 psi, but be prepared to rebuild the engine fairly quickly.

And lastly, you want torque. Torque is what moves your car down the road. Not horsepower.
