I bought a 355ci from a guy that I really trust but he didn't know any of the horse power or torque numbers. He guessed that it had 300-350 hp and would rum mid 12's in the 1/4 mile. This isn't a big deal I am just curious as I am making the swap now and will probably not pay the big bucks to dyno it.
Here is what I know:
1st Gen small block 355ci
650 cfm holly carb
either an edelbrock performer intake or a weiand high rise
the privious owner ran it at 6k rpms and never floated a valve
double hump "fuelie" heads with the 2.02" intake valve. and 64cc
not sure of any head work or compressed head gasket width
flat top cast pistons

Thanks! I can't wait to see what it will do in my '68 El Camino!
also I am way up in elevation 6700 ft. here in CO
TYPO! I meant 6000 ft. Thanks again

The HP sounds to be a good ball park figure it might be closer to the 350HP range if he can run 12's in the 1/4 mle. As long as you run the same heads or something comparable. It sounds like you getting the intake, carb and heads in your post so you will be OK. And dont choke the motor down with running stock exhaust.
