How much grooming/work is required for a domestic medium hair kitten?

My family and I are going to adopt female kitten. Originally we were looking for short hairs, but then we saw an adorable medium haired, and long haired. How much grooming is required for a long/medium hair kitten? We are first time cat owners, so we know nothing!

Well it depends how long the hair is, how matted it is, etc. Ideally, for a long haired cat it's best to groom everyday because piles of hairballs will gather. Just take a few minutes out of your day to comb/brush her and she will be happy.
