How Much gravel do i need at the bottom of my fish tank?

Like rutter said, you want to shoot for around 1-2" per gallon.

75 gallons is a large tank, I'd recommend atleast 2.5-3" which is probably around 100-125lbs

I bought 2 bags of gravel substrate for my 75 gallon tank. Its About an inch thick and most tanks seem to have a thicker layer. Does it actually matter?

well the recommed amount is 1-2 pounds for every gallon so u need about 75-150 pounds of gravel
