I have heard that the $250 Re-spray from Maaco really leaves it with so much Orange Peel you will wonder what they did.

Perhaps if someone listed the steps to repaint a car in order...

At any time, is it necessary to apply Rubbing Compound to remove paint?

Paint jobs will cost you as much as you're willing to spend. They're no different than tattoos. You get what you pay for.

If you're patient and need to save a lot of money, I suggest contacting a local high school autoshop or a local community college autoshop program. They usually only charge you for the materials. I will warn you though - paint & the related materials are VERY expensive.

Be very skeptical of anybody who does an inexpensive paint job like maaco.com
