The average serving of meat is three oz for each person, plus 1/2 c for each salad and side. I doubled what the average was because at a buffet people are always out to fill up. (But I did my own catering!)
I'm having a buffet dinner for my wedding reception, were planning on having pulled pork, BBQ chicken, potato salad, green salad a few more sides and a few deserts. How much of each item should I order?
Plan on about 1 pound of food per person. Add up the weights of all items being served (if your recipes have yields listed in weight). If not, than estimate the weight. It kind of sucks having to spend all that money on food and then wind up having WAY too much left over. Or worse, not enough food. 1 pound of food per person will be enough to feed everyone without a lot of leftovers.
