how much does a inexperienced mechanic make?

depends on area of country, but without any certification I doubt you would get hired anywhere, least in a good shop other wise you would be paid minimum wage. Better keep you current job and go back to school nights. Just remember mechanic work is not simple as cars are computerized, so I hope you like electronics. It is also hard work in less than desirable working conditions, i.e can be dirty and cold. Got to love it to do it well.
 
I would recommend UTI school for selective meachanics. THey have schools all around the country. They focus mostly on the premium brands, like Audi, BMW, Mercedes benz, Mitsubishi, Toyota, etc. You will learn a great deal and be more prepared to offer skills that earn BIG automotive bucks. ive been thinking about becoming a mechanic. i make about 15$ an hour at my current job and will make 20$ when the store manager feels im "ready". i never took school seriously and i feel it might be a little late now. im still going to school and working full-time so its hard to put equal effort into them both.

ive heard mechanics make good money. so ive thought about keeping my current job, go to wyotech to get my certificate and start working on cars. how much would i make starting if i was lucky enough to get hired without certification? and how much starting with certification??

First you should experience part time mechanics work. If you like it, you should take one or two auto technology courses at your local community college.
 
you might have to intern at a mechanic shop. Dont expect to be getting massive amounts of money when you first get a job at a shop.
