1998 Harley-Davidson XL-1200C Sportster, one of my friends is selling his in pretty good condition for 3500 bucks. Is it a good buy or can I get him to go lower

That is a very good price for a '98, I would be more concerned about why so cheap, spend the hundred bucks and have it checked thoroughly before deciding. Why would you want to ride around on a souped up shop compressor anyway? get a good set of wrenches.

sounds like a good deal to me, the market is flooded with harleys right now and values are down. the sportster is the least expensive harley to start with, but a 98 in good shape and average miles 3500 seems a decent price go to kbb.com and look it up in the motorcycles section they will give you a baseline value . hope this helps .

Yes it's a good buy, check this out.

That's about what they are selling for. Kelly is all but useless for motorcycle prices. You best bet is to look on ebay under completed auctions and see what the actual selling price is. Condition and the way a bike was maintained makes a huge difference. The '98 could be a total rip-off at $3,500 or it could be a steal.

One of the nice things about getting a used bike at a good price is that if you take care of it, that Spotster will probably still be worth $3,500 in a few years if you want to sell it.

Just be sure the bike is mechanically sound and I would feel perfectly comfortable paying that for it.
