I just got accepted in UC Berkeley, but am confused on how much I will have to pay. Here is what Berkeley posted for my aid (I'm from Ohio, so I have a nonresident tuition of some $20,000):
Fees: $33,744.00
Health Insurance: $1,522.00
Books and Supplies: $1,314.00
Living Expenses: $17,270.00
Other Expenses: $28.00
--------
Total UC Berkeley Costs: $53,878.00
My Gift Aid:$15,196.00
My Net Cost:$38,682.00
--------
Parents Share:$26,460.00
Students Loan And Work:$10,700.00
Total Resources to Meet My Net Costs:$37,160.00
Total Resources to Meet My UC Berkeley Costs: $52,356.00
... Does this mean financial aid covers all of my expenses? What's the difference between these loans and the loans from banks? And do I need to pay back this financial aid money? (my friend who made it to UPenn says you don't)
Thank you for any help or clearing up! Much appreciated!
