(How Much) Did The Financial Crisis Affect Your Life In 2008 and 2009?

Hi, Dear Britishers:

I'm a foreigner. This may be an unpleasant topic but I don't mean to hurt anybody. Just wanna know did the financial crisis affect your life in 2008 and 2009?? If it did, how much did it affect you and has it gotten any better by now??

Did a lot of Britishers, like Americans, lose their houses to foreclosure too?? Or did a lof of you lose your jobs?

My apologies if this question makes anyone discomfortable. Actually I myself suffered a lot too so we are actually in the same boat.

I'm one of the lucky ones, I haven't been affected. The company I work for has plenty of work on at the moment,

It only affected me in that I had to stop shopping at the expensivish stores I used to shop at and the supermarket stopped making the readymeals I used to buy so I had to start cooking from scratch. That's all.
