500-1,000 the miles and year kills the value of the car... Would you buy a car with 233k miles that needs repairs and you not knowing the person your buying it from. Not knowing if they took care of it or not?
I find it hard to believe that this simple repair will cost $800. I would ask around & see if you can get it done cheaper. If you tried to sell the car as it is, you might get $500. But a good working car could be double that. Or more.
