how many years of science and history?

so im going to into 9th grade in the fall and im trying to figure out my schedule. i thought you needed 2 years of science and 3 years of history. but then my dad said you needed three years of science. i want to get the years out of the way that way when im senior its an easy year. so how many years do i need of science and how many of history. oh and if it makes any difference im going to a private school. and it was 220 credits to graduate correct?
