You incur an 8 year obligation. Your length on active duty depends on whether you received a scholarship. Most scholarship recipients generally are obligated to do 4 years active and 4 years either as a drilling reservist or in the inactive ready reserve or some combination of the reserves to add up to 8 years. A non scholarship recipient can do 6 years as a drilling reservist and 2 years in the inactive ready reserve or they can do all 8 years as a reservist. You have to read you contract carefully to see what your obligation is and make sure that if you want completely out of the military, that you resign your commission. If you do not resign your commission, you can be called back to active duty.
