i wanna know like how many strip of water test kit you use per month and how much do u pay for the test kit?

Please do not even invest in buying the strips as they are inaccurate most of the time. The go stale very quickly every time you open the container which causes even more inaccuracy.

Liquid test kits are the way to go. I have an API Master test kit that includes testers for Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, pH and High range pH. All of which are the basic testers you need, especially the Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate.

I got mine for around 35 US Dollars. If you buy each liquid test kit individually, they are more expensive this way.

When the tank is cycling fishless, test every 2-3 days. If you unfortunately have to cycle with fish (not recommended), you have to test every day along with water changes. After a cycle is complete, you should test at least once a week for Nitrates and pH. I personally test for everything once a month and the day after a water change.

Don't need it, all I do is watch the snails; if they all start climbing the glass then the water is off. They aren't going to sit on the bottom and die of ammonia poison because the fish get the best food are they :o)

I do own a liquid test kit and it was around £15, but I don't use it very often. Strips aren't accurate and they have a shelf life, I wouldn't trust them.

Once your tank is cycled and up and running you should know by looking at it if anything is wrong. Trust your own knowledge and senses. If the sound of the filter is different then clean it, it's common sense not science :o)

I test my water weekly before a tank cleaning if all is normal and daily if i have a problem with the water. Test kit prices varies by store.
