The beauty of HD is you can put all the chrome things available for sale , or you can take a few things off. It's all good.

my crash bars staying, used them twice on my 04 roadking. 1 it saved me money in damage and 2 i didnt have to lift it as far cuz the gaurds hold it from laying flat on the ground which is handy for a speedy recovery.Dont want too people many seeing!

Did you get the regular saddlebag support kit (#90881-09A)? I tried to order it today at H-D, and was told it won't work with the RK Classic - why wouldn't it? If it doesn't fit, what are my options for removing the bag guards??

I removed the crash bars on my Road King Classic to install forward controls.
I dropped it in a parking garage a couple of months ago & if it hadn't been for the saddlebag guards, it probably would have pinned my leg.
I was actually debating removing those before it happened but wouldn't dream of it now.

i thought about removing them the night i rode my new, at that time, 08 streetglide. when i pulled into my yard, i hit a pothole in the grass, and almost dropped my new bike. that's when i realized the crash bar is there for a reason. it remains on there, and there have been times when i've almost tipped it over during slow speed maneuvers. i can imagine what it'd cost to repair the bike if the crash bar weren't there in the event of an accident.

Speakin for myself I will NEVER ride without the crashbar on my bike. Just a week & a half back I collided with a cager & if there had been no bar there my left leg would have been crushed or worse. It was the second time it saved one of my legs. The first was when a peice of step ladder hit my bike while at highway speed. I firmly belive in keeping them on the bike. They also are pretty handy when you have an awshit moment & drop the bike some where. Ride Safe Ya'll.

I think Tangoglide wants to have us see him use fancy words, like Apex, camber, and cantilever! LOL
I also think I ride fairly aggressively on my SG, having drug the floor boards on a couple of occasions so far.
HOWEVER I truly think that in that picture he posted, if your down to the Engine guard in a corner, your ALREADY OUT OF CONTROL, the guard just "Finished" the job. You can NOT have one of these 800 lb bikes over that far and be stable at all....this is just my opinion. So if many on here have done it, I would love to see video of them without the guard and down that far. Tango, if you ever get that RG down that far, and stay shiny side up,, HAVE VIDEO,, we'll need it to believe you.
Mine also are staying, Well, I got rid of the stock one, and put the Mustache bar on with the "Built in" foot rests.
