How many ride without the crash bar?

That logic is equivalent to saying cops who don't Wear ballistic vests are less likely to be shot cuz they are more careful due to the fact that they are more aware that they are less protected? I buy that.

Welcome to the Touring Forum - where our bikes come with bags, windshields, and engine guards. Most of us like 'em that way (that's why we moved up from Sportsters, Dynas, and Softails).

The F-in hair trigger side stand caught a rug in the garage and over it went...but not a scratch... The extended bags have a scrape pad at the lower corner that protected the bags. If it were not for the crash bar I would have been lookin at big repairs! Need a sport bike... check ebay... besides, the front of a bagger looks out of balance and lacking when the bar is gone. Where are you supposed to put yer damn feet when your cruzin down the highway anyhow?!!!

Wow..... 18 pages over crash bars. So I'll chime in.

I've been riding for over 40 years. Mostly dirt bikes and Sportsters. The first day, the very first time I tried to wrestle my brand spanking new Ultra into the garage it did the slow mo roll over in my gravel driveway. I was able to pick it up myself and there were only a few tiny scratches on the under side of the lowers.

Imagine if there had been no guards..............

Many bikes are better looking and most have better lean angles. This one has mucho luggage room, a comfy ride and a radio. Choose your weapon wisely.

I use a crash bar and it did save me quite a bit of money once. Periodically in sharp curves I grind my food boards. My wife says it is my lean angle indicators going off.
