In a collision with a vehical, they aint gonna guard much, but if you drop it while going slow, it sure saves on touch up paint. If you have to lay it down, it'll slide on that bar instead of your tins and fairing if you have a dresser, and yes, best place I've seen for highway pegs!

Point taken, my thoughts are based on lessons learned about plastics at a young age when I was messing around with crotch rockets. fell over in a parking lot and cost me a couple grand with paint. Also started putting frame sliders and crash bungs on so I wouldn't smash up the case. I went down hard on my zuk and the crash bungs saved the case but I ended up with five broken ribs and a few days in the hosp all from a low side in a fast corner. Also when I learned how important boots and a jacket is.

My SG is the first bike I ever had them on. Saw a guy at a biker rodeo drop his bike on the grass and got his foot caught when the bar wrapped around and pinned his foot

Never been low enough around a corner to hit them(this is a touring bike, right?) But have seen the benefit of them in a couple of Bonehead moves on my part....

It is a pretty small investment to protect the very expensive softer bits on the bike. No question. I question their value outside of a low side as a safety device though. I like the idea of being able to easily separate myself from the bike asap after a low side and the bars should help with that. But, that is still a pretty good argument from the safety side of the coin.

I will post on whatever forum I wish....good sir. You can re-direct your mouse where ever you would like. Try and kick me out of a forum?????
