How many ride without the crash bar?

You would have to have a hell of a 5 mph crash to hurt your engine, with or without those PC Guards. For anyone riding 40 someodd years they were called Crash Bars and always will for us more mature riders.

Then you would be really freaked to say:

I"I just put some crash bars on my GREEN Harley!"

Sorry couldn't resist. I'm one of those "mature" riders.

Once we pulled into bike night and seen a bagger on it's side without "Them". Must have tipped over. We couldn't tell who's or what it was from the angle we were at...

A buddy asked,

" What does that look like??"

I answered:

"About $500...at least!"
 
I've never riden with them. Crash is not in my vocabulary. I love the way my bike looks without them. I always say my prayers before and after a ride. You can say I have the #1 passenger riding with me.My husband rides without them also. Beve from Riverside Ca
 
ON 12/5/09 I GOT INTO A ACCIDENT NOT MY FAULT DRIVER FAILED TO YEILD RIGHT OF WAY. IN ORDER NOT TO HIGH SIDE I BROUGHT THE ASS END AROUND CAME IN SIDEWAYS. IF IT WASNT FOR THE ENGINE GUARD MY RIGHT LEG WOULD HAVE GOTTEN TORE UP. BUT THE GUARD HIT FIRST AND THEN MY LEG. FROM THE IMPACT THE BIKE WENT OVER ON LEFT SIDE AND SLID ABOUT 20 FT. THE ONLY DAMAGE WAS MY LEFTSIDE OUTER FAIRING SADDLE BAG LATCH INNER FAIRING FRONT FENDER. JUST TRYING TO SHOW HOW IMPORTANT THE GUARDS ARE IN A ACCIDENT OR TIP OVER. AND ONE MORE THING SAYING PRAYERS IS A GOOD THING BUT THEY DONT STOP ACCIDENTS. IF THEY DID NO ONE WOULD HAVE ANY ACCIDENTS. JUST SAYING.
 
I tool mine off and although I like the look I paid the price two weeks ago. Had to lay the RG down. A kid pulled out in front of me and I had no choice. My fairing to the hit hard. In turn the Cig lighter gouged the tank which required a re-paint. All in all it cost me about $1100 instead of three or four hundred.
