How many quarts of transmission fluid does a 1992 ford?

How many quarts of transmission fluid does a 1992 ford need? Its a xlt 4x4 4.0L v6

I tested the tranny fluid while the truck was running and on even grown and it was dry, so im guessing it needs all of it right?
even ground**
if its empty it wont Drive right?
