How many miles per gallon for a ford escape and chevy impala?

I am traveling from NY to Myrtle Beach. SC and need to determine the best car economically for the road trip.
 
Gas mileage of the impala is 19city and 29 highway
the Ford escape 16city and 20 highway.
I would take the impala.
 
you will do better in the Impala, Ford Escapes will get mid to high teen's 15-19, the Impala can get low to mid 20's. you can store more in the Escape though, an overloaded Impala will get worse fuel economy then an Escape that is made to carry more weight
