My mom told me that she'd take me to the gas station early this morning, because I told her the night before that her car was running extremely low on gas, but she forgot and left the house before I could wake up. (I know there are gas stations that operate 24/7, but my mom insists on using Costco gas)
When I went to school, when I was halfway there, the gas light came on. The distance from my school to my house is only 3.1 miles, and going back would be another 3.1 miles. So if the light came on halfway when I was driving to school, how much gas do you think I have left before it completely goes empty, and how many miles can I go after the gas light goes on? I only have one tick mark left before it goes to empty. :<
Luckily, there's a gas station near by my school, so I'll wait for my mom to get out of work, then call her up and ask her to take my car from the school to that gas station, get a little bit of gas there so it doesn't get to empty, and then go over to the Costco gas station and fill the rest up there (because since my mom is a Costco member, Costco gas is cheaper for her)
Oh yeah--does slamming on the brakes make your car run out of gas faster? Because when I left for school, I had three tick marks. But thanks to a stupid light that suddenly turned yellow without warning, when it had just turned green 2 seconds ago, which caused me to slam on the brakes because I knew I wasn't going to make it past before the light turned red, I lost a tickmark, and at that point, the gas light came on.
How can you tell if your car is on 1/8 gallon of gas? How many tickmarks is that?
