How many hours do i need to turn on my power filter in Blood Parrot Fish?

I recently bought new tank and fish. Fishes are called Blood Parrot fish. I have only 2 parrot fish in it. My question is how many hours do i have to turn on my power filter? Currently i am turning on 24 hours. But fish tank is in my bed room. so, during night time it make me disturb by filter noise? So, can i turn on filter only 12 hours at day time and turn off at night time?
