I am thinking of buying a jeep wrangler for my daughter but someone said they're big guzzlers. How many gallons of gas does the tank take? Thanks.

I have a 02 Wrangler and it usually gets around 16mpg. and thats with a lead foot. I put a K&N panel filter in it and coming back from the beach at around 55-60mph it got around 19mpg. It all depends on how you drive it. And it is a good first car. it was my first car and i havent even had a scare of a rollover yet. And the tank on mine is 19 gallons

I have an '08 unlimited Sahara and it holds 20 gallons. I get between 290-350 miles on a tank depending on the driving. On the highway I get as high as 24 and in the city usually 18. I pay attention, though, to how I accelerate and generally do not use 1st gear unless on an incline.

my '06 Wrangler has a 19.5 gallon tank. I get roughly 190 miles out of that before I'm literally running on fumes. My Jeep is highly modified for offroad usage though... A stock Wrangler should get about 14 miles per gallon...so figure on 250-280 miles per tank...with a tank of gas costing $66-90, depending on what part of the country you live in.
Not a gas saver by any means. And as far as a "first car" for a teenager...not a safe choice either. Lets face it - teens aren't the most careful drivers... Wranglers are prone to flipping over if driven carelessly. Add to that the fact that they have soft tops, which your teen driver is going to want to lower (cuz its cool) and you basically have a vehicle that is a slingshot for anyone not wearing a seatbelt.
If you want a fuel efficient, safe first vehicle - a Wrangler is not for you. If you want a fun vehicle that you can really enjoy regardless of fuel cost and you are a safe and responsible driver - Wranglers are at the top of the list.

Depends on the year. The actual tank takes 19 gallons for models '99 and newer. As for fuel efficiency which is what I'm assuming you're more concerned about, it depends on the engine. I have the 4.0L and it gets somewhere between 16-18. Im not really sure because Jeep enthusiats such as myself don't really care about gas mileage. I heard the 2.5L isnt much more efficient, but a heck of a lot weaker, so I highly recommend the 4.0L; plus it is the legendary engine that never dies. You can check online for more details. Either way, I wouldn't call a Wrangler a big guzzler. Hummers, Suburbans, F-series, etc...those are big guzzlers. Jeeps aren't Honda Civics, but if you or your daughter is into Jeeps, get her that Wrangler. She'll love it.
