How many fish in 36 gal. community tank?

I have 4 zebras and will build up to a shoal of 8.
After that I'd like to start working towards 2 more shoals of 6-8 fish each. I'd probably pick from rasbaros, a hardy tetra, and a gentler barb like the gold or 5 bar.
Finally, I'd finish with 3 or 4 smaller cories.

So, is that doable for a 36gal?
