i am leaving for the states for 3 days, for at the most, so i'm wondering how long my fish would survive without food?
i have 1 figure eight puffer, a bala shark, 4 convict cichlids, 2 guppies, 4 neontetras, some minnows(for feeding),
Any of the fish you listed would be safe out to around 21 days on average,
Where I might worry would be what the routine you feed them now is.
If they are used to "3 squares a day" type feeding then the food chain might kick in....if they are used to "once a day" or the occasional missed meal then you should be okay with 3 days (No Sweat!).
Something that might give you some piece of mind....depends on fish/tank sizes....would be to install a divider temporarily and put the Puffer/Convicts/minnows on one side and Guppies/Neons/Bala on the other. The living arrangements of course depend on fish size,so just use common sense there.
All in all, with a good water change before you leave,3 days shouldn't even make you blink.
