How many calories am I actually burning on my stationary bike?

My bike has a calorie counter, but I don't believe it. It says that I burn 1000 calories every 5 minutes or so. I do go really fast on it, but I am confused on how fast I'm actually going because of how the bike measures distance. If it measures it in MPH, then I can easily figure out how many calories I'm burning for my weight.

According to the manual, it says that it "displays the current speed up to 99.9KM/H or ML/H." I can convert KM/H to MPH easily online to figure out how many calories I'm burning, but what the heck is ML/H and why is that in the manual?

I think this is a biology question not a physics question...

my guess is ML/H is a bad translation from where ever the manual was written to english
