How many belts/arms are in the Milky Way galaxy?

We cannot know how many there are in our galaxy because half of them are on the other side of the galaxy and blocked from view

We are located in the Orion arm,
if you look at the sky, the long band of light known simply as the milky way (this is where the galaxy gets its name) that is the Sagittarius arm
 
Scientists don't know for sure.
The common theory today is that our galaxy has just 2 arms. Just a few years ago most scientists believed that it had most likely 4 or even 5 arms.
