They have cleaned up all available opponents except the guy who doesn’t feel he’s ready (Haye) basically leaving the division in shambles. It’s at the point now that nobody wants to buy the broadcasting rights to show their fights in the best media market in the world!
When will the two best heavyweights step into the ring & face each other?
John McEnroe didn’t bow out of tournaments when he had to face Patrick, Clay Mathews didn’t fake an injury when he played against Bruce Mathews, Phil Niekro didn’t run from a match-up with Joe nor did Greg and Mike Maddux, so how did these guys get away with stealing money for so long?
@ Seabiscuit-Yes & no: I actually value the move from a business perspective, perhaps because what drew me to the sport were the great promoters, and simply posed the question this way to generate opinions from people who really wear the Fan hat. I do wonder how fans can demand competition from certain fighters, give others a pass and then state how bad the sport is. These two are highly trained professional athletes that happen to be the best fighters in boxing so any rationale for them not fighting based on brotherly love just doesn’t compute. They have fought before, so why not get paid for it?
