Chook...what were your symptoms? I gather from what you said you got rid of them How long did it take for you?

Never mind Chook....I just read you other post and it looks like you are having problems yet. You sounded to optimistic I thought you went throguh this and are better. sorry.

LPR is not something that can be "cured" without surgery (and even the surgery is not 100% effective). With lifestyle changes and medications the symptoms can usually be managed but it's not unusual for people who have it under control to have occasional flare ups, and some people never quite get it under control.

Even with medication and lifestyle changes it can take 2-3 months to start to see any significant improvement from the symptoms of LPR.

haha yes...i tend to be quite optimistic. sorry about the confusion.
I have been to the doctor, and just started on meRAB, so hopefully i will be better soon.
I do have reasons for being optimistic though...i know quite a few people with LPR who i have met since my own symptoms began. Talking to them was the reason i thought i might have LPR in the first place. And i can tell you, that the people i know are all fine now. The medication takes a while to work apparently, but it will work eventually. Sure, none of them no longer have LPR, but they don't experience any symptoms anymore, and those who do experience symptoms, find them to be minor and very manageable, compared to what they were experiencing before treatment.
I know that treatment may not be sucessful for all, but i am determined to remain optimisitc about it. I think it's definitely possible to get better :)
Good luck with everything....and sorry again about the optimism!

Chook...So what axactly are your symptoms with LPR? It's usually called silent reflux........

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I know a few people that had the burning throat and are better now, but took 3-6 month for sure. I'm just so tired of waiting and waiting. why does it have to take so long to heal? Now the tomatoes are looking so red on the vine and all I can do is drool! Enough of this crap already. Oops.......

No, no one get disheartened please!
Sure, it can't be 'cured' but neither can a lot of things. That doesn't mean you can live normally. It may take a while to find medications that work for you, but eventually you will get this under control :)
I'm very optimistic about this (as you can probably tell!)...I know this condition can be really hard to deal with, but just be persistant.

haha yes i completley agree! I'm too impatient to put up with this for much longer! It took me ages to finally figure out what i had, and now i'm going to have to wait another few months to hopefully get better...i wish there was a faster way! Good luck :)

LPR = Laryngopharyngeal Reflux

Takes a while to write, and is rather difficult to spell, hence the abbrevitaion!
It's also called silent reflux, as mentioned below.
Type it into google for more information :)
