Okay, so I want to move to Germany in about a year for college (I want to go to an English school for only a year). After that year, I want to be able to go to a German speaking school but I'm nervous on if I'll be able to pick up German in time. I took 2 years of Spanish in my high school, and I'll be honest, I flat out sucked at it. German vocabulary seems to come a bit easier to me (a lot of the vocab are cognates). I also think I'm developing faster in German because I am obviously more dedicated to it considering I want to move there in about a year. Right now I am using a course at BYU because it was the only one available. I am a beginner as in I only know a couple of things.
Anyways, in order to go to school or get a decent job in Germany, you pretty much have to be able to speak at a B2 level. Any suggestions on how long that will take me if I'm teaching myself and pleaseeeeeeee any tips on how to make my development faster and stronger.
I am going to the American school for a year btw because it is transferable and it will give me time to adjust to the language but I still don't want to go there not knowing the language.
THANKS!!!
