how long will gym take effect.?

im 19. im not exactly overweight but im carrying a little bit extra, i have a little pot. iv started going to the gym 3 times a week and im cutting out all soft drink and fast food and overall trying to eat healthier so i was curious on how long it will take to start to take effect and show positive changes
im also doing cardio before i start lifting etc. i run about 2-3 kilometers before i start.
 
Since you're going to the gym 3x a week, you should see your body beginning to tone within that first week. However it takes a person longer to lose weight and gain definition when they are not overweight. Best way to improve your results is by doing cardio outside of the gym. Run a few laps nearby or run on the treadmil before you lift. Also you should set a day or two of strictly cardio: which can be running, interval training (pushing hard for 30 secs and taking a break for a minute), or aerobics. Cardio and weight lifting are the quaranteed way to lose weight. And be sure to consome lots of protein after you workout. Remember: all it takes is 21 days to officially set an effective routine.
