S Susie T New member Dec 1, 2009 #2 At the max, up to 4 years. The first camp was opened in March 1942. In December 1944 the Supreme Court ruled the detainment of loyal citizens unconstitutional. On January 2, 1945, the exclusion order was rescinded entirely. The internees then began to leave the camps to rebuild their lives at home. The last internment camp was not closed until 1946.
