Hello, I had a discogram five days ago and I'm still very very sore. How have others done with recovery from this procedure? Thanks

Hello lovescorgis,

I dont have an answer for you but have been doing some research for my discogram next week.....I hear most people say its fine the next day and very few have problems much longer then that....looks like your in the few with the extended problems...Is it muscle? if so, you need to move it around and loosen it up from the tense state.....if its not muscle I think I would call the Doctor that did it and ask what to do.....A heat pack may be helpful.I also recall someone who had soreness for two weeks...look at the bright side ...its over with!;)

Hope you get better.

Hi!
I had a pretty rough time with my discogram. I was never the same after-may have been mental as well as physical. My doc did not use sedation or painkillers of any kind. He needed to know exactly what hurt and where so a surgery wouldn't be a crap shoot. I understand and appreciate the proceedure but mine was really painful. I had a very kind nurse who had a glass of water and two painkillers in his hand as I was wheeled out! I used ice packs after. Do you know your results?

Blessings,
Momz

I was in the same way as Momz, my surgeon does not believe in sedation during the procedure and mine was also very painful. But I received no pain relief until hour and 1/2 after the procedure and right before my discharge, only to have the meRAB make me sick and I vomitted for the next 24 hours.

Wasn't pretty.

I was at work within a day, but it took me a good week to feel more like my old self before the discogram.

Give yourself a bit more time to feel better. We are all different and it may take you longer to bounce back than the average. Hang in there. :)
