How long to announce your pregnancy?

Im 19 and pregnant (was on birth control) and I have my first appointment tomorrow.
My boyfriend's family knows about the pregnancy and are very very supportive and caring. We live with his family. His sister is even coming to my appointment with me.

I on the other hand am so scared to tell my mother and family about our baby. My mother had me at 20, and has always preach to me about not having a baby at a young age so I just don't want to hear it and be stressed out by her reaction. My father was a horrible figure in my life and left us and I haven't seen or spoken to him in over 12 years. My boyfriend is so excited about the baby though and is already saving up and working extra and I know he will be a great father.

My family is also very judgmental and gossip a lot and I just don't want to deal with it, I just want support. I have had two cousins who have had children at 19 and my family loves their children now I just never imagined I could be in the situation because my pregnancy was an accident.

My question is I will be 8 weeks on Monday and going to my doctor to have everything checked out so I am nervous. But how long should I wait to tell my mother and family? 12 weeks? How should I approach the situation? Show ultrasound pictures? Maybe invite her to my 12 week appointment?

If I were in your situation I would wait until 12 weeks (after your apointment) to tell your family. That way you know the baby is doing well and your chances of miscarriage have gone way down.
I think showing them the ultrasound pics would be neat but I don't know them.
Most likely even if they think it was a mistake for you to get pregnant that is their grandchild and they will most likely love it and be good grandparents anyways.
 
Just tell her u were going for a check up and they did their pregnancy test routine and u were in the room and they said they can't give u no more birth control and u said why and they gave u the great news this happened to my cuzzin and she was scared to tell her mother but now she has a beautiful 2 year old little girl that every one adores and her mother at 1st was upset but when she went to her next appt with her she couldn't have been happier
 
I know your nervous. They'll most likely be upset at first but before you know it they'll be buying baby clothes! Trust me. Seen it happen. (: my cuzn' told my aunt they were having a baby and omg was she mad?! Lol. But before we knew it she just couldn't wait for her to be born!
 
I would wait until the 14th week of pregancy. You are a 1% risk of miscarriage after that. & will be in the 2nd trimester. It went so fast for me, it will for you too.
Either way, it is up to you.

i wasnt going to tell anyone until my 12 week scan, but when my maternity book was posted to my house my mum accidentally opened it and thats how she found out.its up to you. maybe wait till the 12 week check up and i think inviting your mum along is a good idea. im sure she will be happy, the news just might take some time to sink in. good luck :)
